"Justice" For All or Only For Those Who Can Afford to Buy It ?

We know justice is not for all in this country. The wealthy and well-connected can buy their freedom, guilty or not, but that is certainly not justice if we define the word the following way, "The upholding of what is just, especially fair treatment and due reward in accordance with honor, standards, or law." Equality under the law does not exist in this country because the wealthy can literally get away with murder whereas a poor black kid can get murdered just for being a poor black kid under the law.

Wealthy Americans are truly presumed innocent before trial, they are also less likely to be arrested for breaking the law, are more likely to be let go if they are arrested, and if convicted are less likely to receive a harsh sentence.

Our Justice System has become much more punitive recently, yet we have the second-highest rate of incarceration in the world and one of the highest rates of crime and violence in the world. Obviously, something is not working.
