Convenient Coincidences?

Sometimes it's really hard to believe this opportunity to dramatically increase the executive branch's role, strengthen law enforcement and surveillance authority, and practically rewrite the Constitution happened completely through a series of convenient coincidences, considering the right-wing’s well-known agenda is, as Grover Norquist so eloquently articulates, "... to bring this country back to the way it was before Teddy Roosevelt and the socialists came in" and “undo the new deal and the Great Society”.

Ironically, Grover Norquist's "starve-the-beast" parti pris will be achieved by increasing government's budget, power, and presence in our everyday lives -- as has already started to happen -- under the guise of circumstances being "beyond the control" of government. Evidence supports these "circumstances" seem to have been preventable if those at the helm had been paying attention. Even if hindsight is 20/20, it is certain that what happened on 9/11 would not have escalated into the exorbitantly expensive quandary it has become if our government had focused on the culprit instead of inventing situations that did not exist, blaming those who had no part, and distracting us with harmless issues (gay marriage) which if did come to fruition could only make our country that much closer to living what our Founding Fathers had intended -- equality for everyone, because as the U.S. Supreme court declared in its decision to strike the ban on interracial marriage, "marriage is one of the basic civil rights of man, fundamental to our very existence and survival."

I do not believe (yet wouldn't be surprised) that President Bush and/or his administration actively participated in planning 9/11, but I do believe were fully prepared, in the event of an attack, to put their plan into action and make their dream a reality. Whether or not 9/11 fell into their lap or not, they took total advantage of this "windfall", not wasting one second actualizing their plan of attack.
