Sean Penn Endorses Kucinich

Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn, who thrives on political activism, traveled to Iraq, Iran, assisted rescue workers after Hurricane Katrina and is one of the Bush Administration's harshest critics is endorsing Dennis Kucinich.

"I'm torn between the conventional wisdom of what we all keep being told is electability and the idealism that perhaps alone can live up to the challenges of our generation," said Penn. "Of the Democrats running for President, only Congressman Dennis Kucinich's candidacy is backed by a voting record of moral courage and a history of service to our country that has fully earned our support and our gratitude."

Added Penn, "So, here's the question. We got Iowa coming up, we got New Hampshire right on its ass. Do we sell it for electability? If Hitler were the only candidate, would voting for him be most American?"

Electability, he said, was in the eye of the beholder. "It is for us to determine what is electable. And here's how simple it is: If we, those of us who truly believe in the Constitution of the United States of America, all of us, vote for Dennis Kucinich, he will be elected. John Edwards is My Kind of Democrat

John Edwards goes straight to the heart of the matter and attacks our real enemy, corporate America, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. To be fair, he is not the only Democrat who in unafraid to challenge the status quo; Dennis Kucinich goes even further than John Edwards on many issues but unfortunately, Kucinich does not seem to have what it takes to attract the press.

After the Bush Administration, we need a leader like John Edwards who cuts through all the smoke and mirrors and is not afraid to get his hands dirty.

"Let me tell you one thing I have learned from my experience," Edwards said last week. "You cannot deal with them on their terms. You cannot play by their rules, sit at their table, or give them a seat at yours. They will not give up their power -- you have to take it from them."

-- John Edwards
