Tsunami tragedy

This tsunami makes so many of us question, why did this have to happen to so many innocent people? It's so tragic to see all the faces of the survivors who have lost everything, family, friends, home, way to earn a living; everything they have ever known.

I think this is where Faith becomes of utmost importance, because without it, how does one go on? Most of the people affected by the tsunami were poor and were not accustomed to the material world we are used to here in the United States. Granted, there were many tourists, who I would assume are wealthy when compared to the general population in that area, but they were in the minority. The people there may be poor but as I watch the tsunami coverage on TV, I notice that they are rich in spirit. I think the world can learn from these people who are so devastated, that there is more to life than meets the eye.

We all ask the question 'why', but there are no answers as far as what we can understand here on earth, so the answer must lie somewhere out there in a world we cannot access with our five senses. That is where faith and hope come in to invigorate our spirits, trusting God to guide us in the right direction and believe that he wants the best for us even when circumstances all around us tell a different story.

The human spirit is strengthened by supporting others and coming together so that no one is left alone. Many times, tragedies like these create a strong desire to become closer to God making us seek him out which ends up being a gift that we would otherwise have never received.
