Better Than Jumping on Oprah's Couch.

Do you know who wrote the following? Without Google? Without looking it up?

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron. Is there no other way the world may live?
If you knew right away, you get a gold star. If you can also recite it, you not only get a gold star, you go to the head of the class. If you can convince our nation, our president, and president to come, to internalize the eloquence of these words, as we have in the examples I have set forth:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are ...",

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."

"Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country",

"I have a dream..."

"Money is better than poverty..."
Then you will know, as much as you know guests shouldn't jump on the couch of the host they are visiting, that your life has purpose...that you are here for a reason. No trip, no amount of money, not even the opportunity to sit, jump, or rip to shreds, Oprah's couch can top that.
