The Militarization of American Popular Culture

As we enter the 21st century, war blends seamlessly into the entertainment landscape. Although the blending of war and entertainment, militainment, is not a new phenomenon, the Pentagon and entertainment industries have merged to take full advantage of "digital age" technology through film, toys, sports, video games, reality TV, etc. Sure, the Pentagon has worked with Hollywood before, but, today, one could say they are one in the same.

What's the big deal? Well, the glamorization of war affects our ability as citizens to evaluate the necessity and real human costs of military action.
