Brain Eating Vaccine?

A chemically lobotomized, subservient public?

Some would say this has already occurred. However, up to this point, chemicals have not been necessary. We, the plugged-in masses, have succumbed to the brainwashing and propaganda channeled through the mainstream media, in an all out effort to distract us from the truth and ensure we remain ignorant, passive, insatiable consumers of everything, rather than interfering engaged, proactive citizens.  So far, chemical-free, systematic manipulation has worked wonders.

Then, the Internet came along. All of a sudden we, the people have a platform to fight the mainstream denial of real news and information, making it harder for the corporate media to whitewash reality with trivial nonsense like celebrity drama, reality TV and all of the other manufactured mind-numbing distractions. This new threat (Internet) to the power elite's over 30-year old "class piracy" assault on the well-being of average Americans may set  "Big Nurse" and her lobotomizing pharmaceuticals in motion.

“There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.” - Aldous Huxley
So, brain-eating vaccines? Or inoculation for chronic stress?

Well, considering President Obama's science czar, John Holdren, co-authored a 1977 book that called for “planetary regime” to enforce totalitarian population control measures, the first option to seems the safest.
After 30 years of research into cures for stress, Dr Robert Sapolsky, professor of neuroscience at Stanford University in California, believes it is possible to alter brain chemistry to create a state of 'focused calm'.
...
In humans this engineered virus would short-circuit the neural feedback caused by stress, that lingering feeling of tension after a crisis has passed.
...
'This could change society. It would leave you fresher and ready to deal with another threat, so you can maintain your drive, but with more focused calm rather than bad temper and digestion."
...
After early setbacks, the Stanford team has adapted a herpes virus to carry engineered 'neuroprotective' genes deep into the brain to neutralise the rogue hormones before they can cause damage. The virus is now shown to work on rats.

When "Smart" People are "Stupid"

I always thought the difference between a robot and a human being is the human being's innate drive to make sense of the world. Whereas a robot or computer absorbs or passively receives objective knowledge and responds in such a way that it has been preprogrammed to respond, a human being actively constructs knowledge by integrating new information and experiences into what they have previously come to understand, revising and reinterpreting old knowledge in order to reconcile it with the new. In other words, human beings try to make sense of what they have perceived, learned and reasoned by attempting to fit it into the context of which is it acquired.

Apparently, this is not always the case as the following story indicates.

A Lifesaving Checklist

Folic Acid May Save Your Brain!

Folic acid, the vitamin prescribed to pregnant women, could be a brain saver, a study has found.

People who took high dose supplements of folic acid did significantly better in tests of memory and cognitive performance than those given a placebo, researchers report.

The vitamin is found in green leafy vegetables, beans and liver but few people in the UK and northern Europe obtain high enough levels from diet alone. Average intake is around 200 micrograms a day, half the recommended amount.

Folic acid plays a crucial role in the development of the embryo and some countries such as the US now fortify flour with the vitamin. As a result the incidence of spina bifida and similar birth defects has declined. Low folate levels have also been linked with poor cognitive performance, but research has failed to show a benefit among people given supplements.

Now scientists from the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands have demonstrated with the use of more sensitive tests of cognitive performance that high dose folic acid supplements taken over a long period slow the effect of ageing on the brain.

A group of 818 participants, aged 50 to 70, were given a daily dose of 800 micrograms of folic acid, equivalent to four times the average daily intake, for three years. Tests showed their performance on memory and speed of thinking tasks was comparable to that of people five years younger. The results are published in The Lancet.

All the participants had raised levels of homocysteine, a naturally occurring enzyme which is over-produced in response to low folate levels. High concentrations of homocysteine increase the risk of heart disease and have been associated with atrophy of the hippocampus, an area of the brain important for memory consolidation.

Other cognitive functions, such as word fluency, were unaffected by the supplements, suggesting that the effect of folic acid might be restricted to basic aspects of speed and information processing.

The researchers say: "We have shown that three-year folic acid supplementation improves performance on tests that measure information processing speed and memory, domains that are known to decline with age... Trials similar to our own should be repeated in other populations to provide greater insight into the clinical relevance of folic acid supplementation."
